Yahoo’s My Web 2.0 tries taglicious approach to search

I never used My Web 1.0 so I’m not sure how much of this is new, but Yahoo is currently beta testing My Web 2.0, which it calls a social search engine and which features tagging and searching “with a little help from your friends” as its main features. Sounds a bit like del.icio.us to me. Were the flickr folks involved in this?

Oh, and here’s the ‘everyone’ tag cloud for My Web 2.0 so far.

Update: Here’s a much better look at My Web 2.0 from my cranky interlocutor, Ross.

  1. MyWeb 1.0 had folders instead of tags. In 2.0, the folder names have been converted to tags, which is not a bad thing. 1.0 is also still working, of course. So far I’m enjoying 2.0, although I just started playing with it this morning.

  2. You can read about anywhere that Flickr was involved. This is supposed to be a blog about tagging, you ought to check it out.

  3. Ooh, catty! But I’m from the lazyweb school. Post half-baked thoughts off the cuff and better informed people come along to scold you and inform you.
